SCHOOL OF INSTRUCTION
Cary Lodge # 198 is hosting the next school of instruction for our district. Mark your calendar for Saturday October 26 and join the brethren from your lodge and from the lodges within our district as we increase our awareness of the degree work.
The day begins at 7:30am with coffee and donuts served in the fellowship hall. The school will begin at 8:00am and conclude at 3:00pm. Lunch will be provided by our lodge.
Plan on attending and helping make this a successful and rewarding event.
ANNUAL LADIES AND AWARDS NIGHT
The lodge is again hosting our annual ladies and awards dinner night on November 16th at 7:00pm. The committees have worked hard on making this another favorable night to express our sincere gratitude to the ladies of our late brothers.
Additionally, we will be honoring the brothers of our lodge who have achieved 25 and 50 year membership status.
Plan on attending and enjoying a good meal and entertainment. We must have a head count by the first stated meeting in November. If you are not able to attend the meeting but want to attend on November 16th, please call the Master.
CARY CHAPTER # 366, OES
The Cary Chapter will be having a BBQ at the lodge on Friday, November 1. The benefits of this will support charities. Cary Lodge # 198 has obligated itself to assist in helping this be a success. Let’s join in and do this for the good of masonry. If you can help in any way contact Arey Little.
Newest Scottish Rite Masons
Congratulations to Daniel Maxton Dyson, Jr., Kevin Charles Hall, and George Wendell Whaley. They were members of the reunion class dedicated to the memory of Harry Lee Holland.
LODGE IMPROVEMENTS
If you haven’t been to the lodge lately, new carpet has been installed in the entrance way and the fellowship hall. It is a beautiful design and will greatly enhance the interior of the building.
ACHIEVEMENTS
Brother Walter Highsmith, Jr. recently became a Certified Lecturer. This is a tremendous accomplishment and he should be congratulated when you see him. Also Bro. David Winkler, PM was recertified. Congratulations to both!
GOLF TOURNAMENT
Cary Lodge # 198 is hosting a golf tournament to benefit our Masonic charities. The superball golf tournament will be played on Monday October 28, 1996, at Hidden Valley Golf Course in Angier. Please contact Walter Highsmith, Jr. (467-7758) or Charles Early (467-4223) for details. We need everyone to get involved in getting golfers to play in this event. You can bring your own foursome! Cost is $50 per player or $100 for a corporate sponsorship(company name on tee box and one player).
It’s a shotgun start at 9:00am with lunch being served after the tournament. Plan to attend and have fun.

WHO WOULD NOT BE A MASON
by Bro. Charles F. Forshaw, M. D.
Who would not be a Mason
And wear the apron white?
And feel the bonds of friendship
The rich and poor unite?
To know Masonic virtues,
To do Masonic deeds?
And sympathetic minister
Unto a Brother’s needs?
Who would not be a Mason
And join the brethren true?
To see our noble teachings
Their glorious work pursue?
To feel a bond Fraternal
Is theirs where’er they go?
And find a hearty welcome
As they journey to and fro?
Who would not be a Mason
A craftsman just and fair,
To meet on the Level
And part on the Square?
To hear the voice of Charity,
Where’er our Lodges be?
And to know our Grips and Passwords
And share in all our glee?
Who would not be a Mason
To labor day by day?
And laboring try to lessen
The thorns upon life’s way?
To help to form a column,
All perfect and complete?
Fit for building that great Temple
Wherein we hope to meet?
