SPRING BARBECUE RESULTS
Our spring barbecue was successful as we had a complete sell out of barbecue (about 7pm). Without the help of the brethren who sold tickets, participated in the preparation, cooking, bagging of take outs, dining room and kitchen, and cleanup, the event would never have gotten past the planning stages.
We had a net of around $5,000 made on this event which goes to the Masonic Foundation.
Thanks again to everyone who was able to help.
DISTRICT DEPUTY GRAND MASTER
This year concluded Gene Reynolds, PM term of DDGM for the 26th Masonic District. He has served the district well and has made Cary Lodge proud that one of its own has held such a distinguished position.
Charles Early, PM of Cary Lodge was appointed to serve as the DDGM for the 26th Masonic District for the next term (3 years).
Congratulations, W. Bro. Early on your appointment and we wish you success in your position.
DISTRICT DEPUTY GRAND LECTURER
Woodley Kennedy, PM has completed his term of DDGL of the 26th Masonic District. He has represented our lodge well in this distinguished position.
At the last School of Instruction which was held in February at Fuquay Lodge No. 258, Cary Lodge was well represented as were the other lodges in the district. All lodges met the requirements of attendance.
SECOND ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Second Annual Cary Lodge Golf Tournament is scheduled to be played on Friday, September 18 at Hidden Valley (same place as last year).
Registration of participants will begin at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Format of play is Four man superball. Sponsorships are available which will include one player spot. Tournament play is open to the public and your ladies are encouraged to play.
We had a fairly successful tournament last year, despite the rain. Get your teams together now and invite your friends and neighbors as this will make this years event successful.
For more information contact W.Bro. Jeff Daniel at (H) 363-0745 or Walter Highsmith at (H) 467-7758.
FALL BARBECUE
The lodge’s annual Fall Barbecue is scheduled for Friday, October 2. We had a tremendous amount of help at the spring barbecue and everyone is encouraged to participate in the fall event.
The fellowship that occurs is tremendous and the rewards of our labors are endless. See you there.
DEGREE WORK
On July 6 the lodge confered the entered apprentice degree to Bro. Randall W. Thompson.
Bro. Forrest Cannady was appointed to do the coaching. Speaking of coaching, if you are interested in coaching please speak with Bro. Cannady. Your assistance is greatly needed.
SCOTTISH RITE NEWS
The Valley of Raleigh held their Spring Reunion on April 17 & 18. One of our lodge brothers received his Scottish Rite degrees on that weekend. Congratulations to Josh Dunbar on becoming a 32o Scottish Rite Mason.
Also, several members of this lodge conferred the Ninth Degree and filled all the major positions with the exception of one. If you are a Scottish Rite Mason and would be interested in participating in this work, contact Kevin Hall, Ambassador for Cary Lodge to the Valley of Raleigh, at 380-1635.
The weekend of July 17 & 18 was a Scottish Rite and Amran Shrine Ceremonial. No members of our lodge went through this summers event. However several members were actively involved in the weekend events.
LODGE & O.E.S. DINNER
The Edith Chapter No. 160, O.E.S. has invited the brethren and their families to a dinner to be held on Saturday, August 29. The lodge agreed to assist in the expense of this dinner.
Mark your calendar for this date and bring your family for fun and fellowship. More on this in the coming weeks.

The award was presented in April at the Grand Lodge Annual Communication and currently hangs in the preparation room at the lodge.
BICYCLE PROGRAM
For those of you who have not been to a meeting lately, our bicycle program has been very productive and active.
Bro. Jim Abney has worked very hard at getting used bicycles that are donated fixed and delivered to the Masonic Home for Children at Oxford. To date he has delivered over sixty (65) bikes to the Home. The children are extremely appreciative of Bro. Jim’s efforts as is the lodge.
Thanks Jim for the fine work!

TRESTLE BOARD NEWS
It has been several months since our last issue. There is some talk of publishing a district wide newsletter that will include news items from all lodges in the district and sent to all members of said lodges. Currently each issue of our Trestle Board is sent to the lodges in the district and all Grand Lodge officers.
Please submit any news for the good of Masonry to Kevin Hall at hallkc@juno.com (text messages only, no attachments) or call 380-1635.
I want to thank the brethren who have commented on the newsletter and the material in it.
